The ABILITY Job Fair job fair portal is titled abilityCONNECT.online. You will visit this application to enter booths and meet recruiters. The application is still in the process of becoming fully screen reader compatible. We are aware that some text fields and elements need work.
The following are behaviors to be aware of. Please read carefully and follow these instructions to navigate around the places that are behaving in unusual ways. We apologize for any inconvenience.
Alert Regarding iPad and iPhone Use
We understand when using Voiceover with iPad and iPhone, parts of the form are difficult to navigate or make selections. A possible solution would be to use a laptop or desktop computer. If that is not an option for you, please contact job seeker support if you have difficulty completing forms.
Site browser permissions
When you visit the abilityCONNECT.online app, Chrome browser will require permission to access your camera and microphone. This dialogue box does not announce. It is found at the top of abilityCONNECT.online pages. Permission must be granted to gain access to employer portals.
If you are not able to catch the Google alert, follow these instructions:
- Visit: https://abilityconnect.online/#/job-seeker-login or any abilityCONNECT.online page
- From the address bar, tab left into the “View site information” area
- Hit enter to access the permissions.
- Tab down to each permission
- Hit enter to toggle on/off permissions. You want to toggle on all permissions for this application.
If the permissions are not set when you join a meeting with a recruiter, you will be required to accept the mic and camera permissions before joining a meeting.
Navigating inside each page
When you encounter screen reader commands while navigating around a page that do not execute in the manner they should, we suggest using arrow keys if tab doesn’t work, and vice versa.
Some pages may not announce
Some pages may not announce when the page changes. If you’ve clicked on a link and do not hear the screen reader announcing a new page, we suggest you hit Tab to hear skip to main content or Ctrl Home will scroll you to main navigation.
Landing on new pages
When you land on a new page, you must hit tab to get to “Skip to Main Content” link.
Multi-list combo boxes
Multi-list combo boxes for fields, such as Primary Experience and Job Type, can be navigated as follows:
- Tab to enter into the text field,
- Then use arrow keys to find your selection,
- Hit Enter to choose your selections
- Then hit tab to exit the field
