Prepare for the Job Fair

  • Make sure your device is ready. Ensure your web cam and mic work with Chrome browser. Try a 3rd party app like: Online Mic and Web Cam Test

  •  Arrange a quiet, distraction-free environment, with good lighting, to best present the candidate, YOU.

  • Review the companies participating in the career fair. View company details by clicking the “Visit Employer Portal” button. Take time to learn about the company, open positions, culture, benefits, and more.

  • Familiarize yourself with the actions available to you on each company’s portal. Before the job fair, you are able to view job opportunities. On the job fair date, you will connect the recruiters by selecting “Connect with Recruiters.”

Select the middle link that says "Connect with Recruiters".
  • Prepare your resume and have it ready to upload when you enter the employer portal, before meeting with a recruiter. You will need to add your resume for each recruiter meeting.

  • Be prepared to answer who you are and why you want to work for that particular company. Prepare and rehearse an “elevator pitch.” An elevator pitch is a short summary of the “best” of you, and takes about 30 to 60 seconds or around 75 words.

  • Practice using the demonstration, which will be available at least one week before the job fair.

Prepare and Practice all the tips above to be an outstanding candidate!
